ABOUT US
Biotechnology Department is involved in 7 scientific research projects financed within the national frame work of 4th Programme – Partnership in priority domains
(4 in coordination) and 1 CAPACITIES project for laboratory infrastructure modernization.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
• Development of scientific knowledge in life sciences to stimulate and support innovation in biotechnological field; development of new products and technologies using biotechnology methods
• Development of a network in order to transfer scientific knowledge • Promotion of national and international collaboration in biotechnology field. • participation to the development of the economic sector (both National and at European Community level) • Strategies to bring up the problems connected to bio-security, risks in biotechnology, socio-economic aspects. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
• Environmental protection and control of contamination sources
• Identification and total exploitation of renewable resources and by-products using specific biotechnologies • Development of technologies, systems, instruments and equipments based on biological sources and processes • Obtainment of active biological products with appliances in food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and health domains • Elaboration of new methods and techniques to control the quality of biotechnological products, substances and processes |
